Storm of the Century: The Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 – Willie Drye

We currently are experiencing a very intense hurricane season, which is affecting thousands of people in the southern part of the U.S. In 1935, the most powerful recorded hurricane on record, hit the Florida Keys and other areas as well. At the time 400 veterans were on a work assignment and 260 of them died when this hurricane hit. This is a part of U.S. history that few are aware of.  Are we repeating a similar pattern today?
