In the United States the mortality of mothers and babies is rising, which is quite a surprise considering all of the resources and educated people we have in the medical community.  However, a number of publications have been putting out this information and Dr. Klein discusses what his experiences with midwives and doulas, has been and how using their services could create a turnaround of these statistics.
